It is time for a change!
President Ronald Reagan had a famous quote when he was running for President back in 1980: “Are you better off now than you were before?” I am asking you the same question: “Is Cupertino better off now than six years ago?” Reflecting on the past six years, the answer is clear: No. It’s time for change.
When I left the City Council at the end of 2018, I handed over a substantial budget surplus. Today, Cupertino faces a budget deficit, and vital services have been cut, impacting our community’s quality of life. For instance, our wonderful Quinlan Community Center and Senior Center are now closed on weekends, limiting access to our facilities.
In 2018, with the help of other councilmembers, we unanimously approved the Vallco Project—a solution that would have met California’s housing requirements while preserving our residential neighborhoods with substantial benefits to our city and communities. Unfortunately, the following council repealed this plan, leading to unwanted developments encroaching on areas like Scofield and Linda Vista. The very people who created these problems are now claiming to have the solutions. Can you trust them?
I have a proven track record of bringing revenue to Cupertino, from negotiating a significant sales tax rate increase with Apple to halting harmful operations at Lehigh Southwest Cement after two decades of effort. My commitment to public health and safety is unmatched.
I’m dedicated to restoring Cupertino’s prosperity and ensuring our community thrives. Vote for me by November 5th or earlier, and let’s work together to solve the challenges we face. Questions or suggestions? Email me at councilbarry@gmail.com. Thank you for your support!
